OTD: I generally go to my grandparents for Thanksgiving, but I missed
out on that the last couple of year. But I'll be there for 4 days this
year. One tradition I look forward to is always having a campfire
sometime after dinner. Good times.
Us Brits don't have Thanksgiving Day, nor do the Japanese. Looks like another big roast I miss out on. Looks yummy too.
I'm wrong here
Labor
Thanksgiving Day (勤労感謝の日 Kinrō Kansha no Hi?) is a national holiday in
Japan. It takes place annually on November 23. The law establishing the
holiday, which was adopted during the American occupation after World
War II, cites it as an occasion for commemorating labor and production
and giving one another thanks. It has roots in an ancient harvest
ceremony (Niiname-sai (新嘗祭?)) celebrating hard work
Well if
that's so! It's the first time I have known about this. This could be a
good time to bring it up and introduce to our family. Getting the family
together is always a good thing. A few drinks, some board games. and
best yet getting a nice roast in!!
